Nastaran Najafi

Artist

Nastaran Najafi is an Iranian abstract and glitch painter whose work lives at the intersection of memory, identity, and the act of breaking apart.

Trained in classical painting, she arrived at abstraction not as a stylistic choice, but as a necessity.

The glitch in her work is not an error, it is a method. A way of fracturing the surface of an image to reach what cannot be said in any other language. Every distortion is intentional. Every rupture carries meaning.

At the heart of her practice is a lifelong dialogue with Iranian visual heritage the geometry of ancient architecture, the ornament of Persepolis, the memory embedded in stone, colliding with the vocabulary of digital fragmentation.

She does not preserve culture by keeping it intact. She preserves it by putting it in conversation with the present.

The woman has always been central to her work. In every painting, she appears, not as decoration, but as subject. As praise. As a redefinition of what a woman looks like from the inside.

Nastaran has fought for women’s voices throughout her life, and that fight is visible in every canvas.

Her ongoing two-year project, CARRIED, is the most complete expression of this vision. It begins with her own memory and moves toward the woman she is now, a reconciliation with identity, origin, and land. It is not about arrival. It is about the weight of the path, and the peace that comes when you stop fighting yourself.

Nastaran has exhibited internationally across New York, London, Dubai, Amsterdam, Berlin, Chicago, and Qatar. In 2024, her work was featured on Apple Vision Pro. She has built a collector community of over 115 collectors on eth, with her work consistently sought across global Web3 platforms.

She paints to take care of herself. And somewhere in that act of care, others find something that belongs to them too.
